Like Parent, Like Child?

This ripped-out piece from a magazine really touched me. How ’bout you?

Believe me, I KNOW from experience that our children DO take their own paths, learn their own lessons, and find their own ways on what seems at times a bumpy route….BUT I have also seen that they DO study us, learn from us, soak us up when we least expect it…and count on what they’ve seen in those moments that really matter.  Our perspective is SO catching….We are our child’s “Top 10 Model”, like it or not.  Simple, but true. What a precious opportunity we have. For me, it has kept me on the straight and narrow (not to be confused with being on the road less traveled, taking an out-of-the-box view, or shifting my paradigm midstream)…in hopes that my daughters and students would glimpse that uplifted and pure scenery that is our choice to see each day.

I couldn’t agree more. A reminder to all of us that we teach by example. A reminder to me of the trickle down effect of my actions or lack of action. Thanks, for once again, hightening my awareness.

I totally agree. It keeps me on my toes, as well. I am always conscious that I must strive to keep my words and actions consistent with one another. I realize that my husband and I are constant models for our children(whether they realize it at this point in their lives, or not).

This is absolutely the truth. Parents must be role models and we must set positive examples for our children on a daily basis in order for them to learn from a good source and be healthy and happy.

I see how my parents treat other people and I try to learn from them and be a good person and treat people well too. I love my parents and think they are great role models.
