Have you ever seen or made a wax resist painting or a batik? These used to be one of my favorite things to make. And as I progressed from my crayons and paint to my wax tool and fabric dye, I appreciated them even more. I began to understand the process, the WHY of how it worked. I saw that it could be a metaphor for MY OWN awareness and power to mentally resist thoughts and actions that do not serve me. I am taking on that challenge today: to stand as a more-awake guard at the door of my thought, to be more aware of what images and ideas would try to influence me. Something to think about…join me?
Pronunciation: /ri – zist/
1 : to withhold an action, comment, or thought; to fight against : OPPOSE <resist temptation>
2 : to withstand the force or effect of <material that resists water, wax that resists color>
ahhhh….the beauty and power of resisting what does not serve us!
